Independent Age

It must be noted that the ‘credit crunch’ has affected Independed Age, as it has affected many other charities and organisations. As a result they have had to reduce their support in some areas and are currently not accepting new applications.

IndependentAge helps older people on low incomes to live with dignity and peace of mind by providing:

  • a regular extra income
  • grants for emergencies
  • equipment to aid independence
  • the support and friendship of our volunteers
  • nursing and residential care homes

Their remit includes Clergy, and Independent Age have been most helpful to several of our retired ministers who have applied for aid.

We heartily recommend this charity which has proved to be totally ethical and generous to those who meet their criteria.

Besides financial aid, which includes a small ‘pension’ and grants for particular purposes – eg medical,  from time to time they provide clothing and items for the home, bedding etc.  They also provide holidays although these are limited and not everyone who applies is lucky!

For example, a missionary couple retired from the field and came home with virtually nothing.  Independent Age have helped them tremendously both financially and practically.
